How are you making progress towards this vision? I would love to hear what’s working, what’s not, and what you are trying. Thanks for continuing to share the resources you find with me!
VISION: By December 2020, we can confidently say that our diverse learners have equitable access to high quality educational opportunities that inspire progress toward their individualized goals across learning environments.
As always, use what you need, when you need it. Comment below with how you’re putting these ideas to work, what you’ve found most useful, or where gaps continue to exist or show up.

PLANNING FOR INSTRUCTION
- Now is a great time to revisit the accessibility of your digital materials. AEM has so many great resources for this! This accessibility overview makes the concepts sticky and actionable. Other helpful guides: documents and slide decks, reading materials, math, videos.
- Are you using Jamboard? Kami? Desmos? We’ve heard about a lot of teacher and student wins with these applications. Bookshare & Learning Ally have been a great resource for audiobooks.
- This would be a great tool to use to check-in on current readiness or progress of your online learners and could open an authentic conversation with the teaching team and family. (There’s one for teachers too!)
MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS
- Meaningful Classroom Talk – lots of good ideas for increasing speaking opportunities for ELs that apply to the virtual setting as well
- So many great tutorial videos for upping the accessibility of your online materials for ELs! The one about building interactive google slides is game changing.
- News in Levels was recommended this week for varying text by proficiency levels.
WHOLE CHILD
- NIET’s actionable guide to Supporting Social and Emotional Learning in Everyday Instruction
- Occupational and Physical Therapy Home Program Activities
- A wonderful and free bank of visual tools related to behavior, social, and communication tools, with clear explanations on how to use each
